Please plan to join the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning and Temple University Beasley School of Law for an engaging conference about pedagogy and AI. "Generative AI: Practical Applications for Law School Pedagogy" is a one-day conference that will explore innovative ways to integrate generative AI into legal education. This hands-on event will feature live demonstrations, insightful discussions, and opportunities to hear about real-world classroom experiences-both successes and challenges. We will hear how our colleagues are evolving their assignments, developing effective prompts, and utilizing valuable tools to enhance classroom engagement. We will also learn more about how to make decisions in this new, challenging space-both institutionally and individually-with emphasis on re-examining learning outcomes and shoring up academic integrity.
We are thrilled to announce three keynote speakers:
* Dr. Lilach Mollick is the Co-Director of the Generative AI Labs at The Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania. Her work focuses on the development of pedagogical strategies that include artificial intelligence and interactive methodologies. She has also written several papers on the uses of AI for teaching and training, and her work on AI has been discussed in publications including The New York Times and Vox.
* Dr. Rob Nelson is the Executive Director for Academic Technology and Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. He writes AI Log, available on Substack<https://ailogblog.substack.com/> and LinkedIn<http://www.linkedin.com/in/erob-nelson>, about how generative AI is changing education. He teaches courses about the history of higher education and the social contexts of educational technology at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. For much of his career, he has served as administrator in Penn's Office of the Provost overseeing projects related to academic technology, accreditation, course evaluations, and online learning.
* Dr. Kirsten Davis is a Professor of Law and the Provost's Faculty Fellow for Generative Artificial Intelligence and Higher Education at Stetson University. Her work focuses on the intersection of legal communication and legal ethics. Most recently, she has been studying the impact of generative artificial intelligence on legal communication, legal ethics, and higher education. This past year, the AALS Section on Technology, Law, and Legal Education selected her for its Inaugural Technology Mentorship Award. The ABA Legal Technology Resource Center named her to its distinguished Women of Legal Tech list for 2024.
The conference takes place on Friday, March 28 at Temple University Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia. More details about the conference and registration will be forthcoming on the Institute for Law Teaching & Learning website.
