IRAN----executions

3 Prisoners Hanged in Shiraz and Noshahr



3 prisoners at Adelabad prison, in Shiraz and 1 prisoner at the Central Prison 
of Noshahr have been executed by hanging.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on 30th 
December, early morning a prisoner with drug related charges and 2 prisoners 
charged with armed robbery were executed in the yard of Adelabad prison in 
Shiraz by hanging.

Early morning, on Wednesday, 31st December, a prisoner who was charged with 
murder, was executed in the yard of the Central Prison and number 1 of Noshahr, 
by hanging.

It is to say, the executed prisoner was 30 years old and from Ghochan in 
Khorasan Razavi province and was charged with murder 4 years ago as he killed 1 
of his relatives by knife in a village near Noshahr in a clash.

Those executions have not been announced by Iranian officials Media yet.

Soheil Arabi Is Still at the Risk of Execution



The prosecutor refuses to send Soheil Arabi's case for a review based on 
Article 18. He still remains at risk of execution for alleged insulting the 
Prophet Mohammad in Facebook.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), Soheil 
Arabi's death sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court of the country so that 
he is at risk of execution.

This prisoner has been charged with insulting the Prophet Mohammad in Facebook 
and is sentenced to death. His solicitors and his family have applied Article 
18 for him from the Supreme Court and they are still waiting for his case to be 
reviewed.

Vahid Meshkani, one of the solicitors told HRANA's reporter: regarding Soheil 
Arabi's latest condition: "They refuse to see us, I do not know why, the case 
is still quite and no changes has happened. Regarding the press, the complaint 
is open but it is lagging and we are waiting for an inquiry."

He continued: "Applying Article 18 and request for reviewing interrogations 
still have no good results. The Supreme Court, as the highest authority, has 
been asked for the acceptance or rejection of the claim for restitution of the 
legal process but for unknown reasons the prosecutor has refused to send the 
case, so far."

Soheil Arabi was sentenced to death on 30th August in the branch 76 of Penal 
Court by Judge Siamak Modir Khorasani and on 7th December his sentence was 
upheld by the Supreme Court, presided by Ali Razini.

1 Man Was Hanged For Drug-Related Charges in Iran----The 1st day of 2015 
started with the execution of 1 man in Qazvin according to official Iranian 
sources.



1 man was hanged in the prison of Qazvin (Western Iran) yesterday morning, 1. 
January. According to the state run Iranian news agency Fars a 38 year old man 
identified az "A. Azizi" was arrested together with his wife and 18 year old 
daughter while carrying 2967 grams of heroin.

The man was sentenced to death while his wife was sentenced to 15 years in 
prison.

The majority of all those executed in Iran are convicted of drug related 
charges. Iranian authorities claim that these executions are part of the fight 
against the international drug trafficking. However, most of the people 
executed in Iran for drug-related charges belong to the marginalized parts of 
the Iranian society.

BANGLADESH:

Death In Road Accidents ---- Death penalty for drivers sought



People from all walks of life at a human chain yesterday demanded death penalty 
for reckless drivers who cause road accidents leading to death of people.

A platform of civilians, Sadi Morshed Remembrance Council, organised the event 
before Jatiya Press Club in the capital. The event was organised following the 
death of Sadi, a 2nd year BBA student of Independent University, who was 
crushed under the wheels of Falgun Paribahan in Merul Badda in the capital on 
December 2, 2014.

Ilias Kanchan , chairman of Nirapad Sarak Chai, demanded stern action against 
reckless drivers.

He urged people to take initiatives to stop such incidents from occurring. "How 
can a bus with about 40 people on it escape after such an incident," he 
questioned.

Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya, and Sadi's family members, 
among others, were present.
