SAUDI ARABIA----execution

Saudi executes man convicted of killing wife

Saudi Arabia on Monday executed a man convicted of killing his wife, adding to
a toll which rights group Amnesty International says is the kingdom's highest
in 2 decades.

Hawas al-Shammry, a Saudi, was put to death for stabbing his Saudi wife to
death after a dispute, the interior ministry said in a statement.

Authorities carried out the sentence in Rafha, in the kingdom's north.

According to AFP tallies, Shammry is the 148th local or foreigner put to death
this year, against 87 for all of 2014.

LIBYA:

Trial against Saadi Gaddafi postponed to February----He is charged with killing
regime opponents by Tripoli

A high court in Tripoli has postponed to February 8, 2016, a trial against
Saadi Gaddafi, the 3rd son of the former Libyan leader, who is detained in a
prison in al-Habda on charges of violently cracking down on regime opponents,
actively taking part in the murder of demonstrators at the end of 2011 and of
being implicated in the 2005 homicide of a former Libyan soccer player,
according to Libyan media. Tripoli also accuses him of embezzlement through
force and armed intimidation when he was at the helm of the Libyan football
federation. He risks the death penalty.

Saadi, 42, appeared yesterday, in a cage and dressed in the blue uniform of
detainees in front of a judge, who ruled in favor of a postponement for further
investigations. He was extradited from Niger in March 2014 and taken to prison
in Tripoli, where other leading members of the ousted regime were being held.
Human Rights Watch, whose members met with him last September 15, said he is
being kept in isolation in a cell without windows and that his legal rights
have been violated.
