Subject: GAL credit for CLE?
Linda,
Personnel from the Casper UPLIFT office will be speaking at this month's
Natrona County Bar meeting. They will be talking about UPLIFT's Family
Outreach program, particularly the services they can provide to parents
whose children are in the DFS system. Their family outreach services
include working with family members to prepare them for meetings with
schools, service agencies (e.g. DFS) and courts, and helping families
advocate for the most appropriate services for their child. This would
be of interest to GAL's and parents' attorneys, so I thought it might be
appropriate for GAL credit. It will be offered for 1.0 hour CLE.
It'll be Friday, August 31, at 12:00 p.m. at "303" restaurant in
Casper. Lunch will be served, $11.00 for Natrona County Bar members,
$14.50 for non-Natrona County Bar members. (price includes meal,
beverage, tax and tip) If in your estimation it would be appropriate
for GAL credit, please let me know, also please feel free to distribute
this information over the GAL listserv.
Thanks!

Helping Babies From the Bench 1:30pm - 3:00pm 1.5 CLE
We are privileged to receive two nationally recognized and
well published individuals who have dedicated years to research,
intervention, and clinical work with infants, children, and families
exposed to community and domestic violence and maltreatment, many at
high psychosocial risk. For the last ten years, the Honorable Cindy S.
Lederman, Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court in Miami-Dade County,
Florida and Joy D. Osofsky, Ph.D, psychologist and psychoanalyst, have
worked on the development and evaluation of programs to benefit high
risk young children and families in court. As a result of Judge
Lederman's work with maltreated infants and toddlers, the Florida
Legislature designated her court an "Infant and Young Children's Mental
Health Pilot Site." This work led to the Miami-Dade Juvenile Court
Early Childhood Initiative that has been replicated in five other states
with Congressional funding and now serves as the basis for the Safe
Babies Act of 2007. Dr. Osofsky is a psychologist and psychoanalyst and
Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at Louisiana State University
Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. She is Head of the Division of
Pediatric Mental Health. Additionally she serves as Adjunct Professor
of Psychology at the University of New Orleans and is Director of the
Violence Intervention Program for Children and Families and the Harris
Center for Infant Mental Health at Louisiana State University Health
Sciences Center in New Orleans.
Accessing Mental Health & Substance Abuse Resources for Your Client

and substance abuse statewide system. Presenting will be Mark
Disselkoen, Director, Certification and Accreditation, Center for the
Application of Substance Abuse Technology, University of Nevada, Reno
who is responsible for facilitating the Quality Management contract for
the State of Wyoming, Substance Abuse Division. Mark not only measures
