Akron Center for Reproductive Health. In this decision, the Court found that the city's abortion ordinances, including required parental consent for minors, informed consent for adults, and a 24-hour waiting period, to be unconstitutional. The Courts believed these provisions "unjustifiably placed a significant obstacle in the path of a woman seeking an abortion," and also constituted an attempt to persuade against an abortion.  

More than 34 years have passed since the Supreme Court first held in Roe v. Wade that women have a constitutional right to abortion. Yet the question is still a topic of heated debate and there has been an ongoing call to revisit past abortion decisions.  

This compilation by Kumar Percy Jayasuriya and the Tarlton Law Library is intended as a learning tool as well as a historical record.
