Attention: HeinOnline Subscribers Using A Proxy Server

We recently invested a substantial amount of time and resources to upgrade web servers in order to provide HeinOnline users with faster search results.  This upgrade is essential in light of the increasing content and usage of the product.  Once the upgrade takes effect, which is expected before the end of this month, HeinOnline researchers will notice better server response times.  Of course, various factors may influence the overall performance, but we are confident that the results will be much improved.

 

Most HeinOnline subscribing institutions will NOT need to do anything to take advantage of this upgrade.  As long as those institutions utilizing a proxy server followed proper procedures when they began their HeinOnline subscription, the upgrade will pose no connectivity issues.

 

In order to ensure that your proxy server will point to our new servers, please make sure that you have a wildcard reference to HeinOnline in your proxy settings (this should be " *.heinonline.org ").  Once again, HeinOnline has always recommended that you use this wildcard entry, but in some instances we have found that is not always the case with some institutions.  If you have any other entries, such as " www.heinonline.org ", " heinonline.org ", or " hawk.heinonline.org " your proxy server will not point properly to our new servers. 

 

Once again, the ONLY entry you will need both before and after the server upgrade is " *.heinonline.org ".
