ZAMBIA:

Court upholds murder sentence


The Supreme Court has upheld the conviction of a Lusaka man for murder of his 
wife.

Hannock Kasama reports from Kabwe that Supreme Court Judge Evans Hamaundu, 
sitting in Kabwe has imposed a death penalty on Golden Chirwa.

Mr. Chirwa was earlier convicted by the Lusaka High Court on April 30, 2013.

He was charged of murdering his wife Ruth Mwale on September 26, 2011.

In this matter, the state had called 6 witnesses.

1 of the witnesses, a neighbor, had testified of the discovery of the pounding 
stick beside the deceased body.
