Andriano death penalty hearing postponed
A hearing on whether Wendi Andriano deserves to die for murdering her
terminally ill husband four years ago has been postponed until Nov. 30.
The Phoenix mother of 2 was convicted Thursday following an 11-week trial
of poisoning and then stabbing and beating her husband to death. The
hearing on whether she should receive the death penalty was scheduled to
start on Monday.
If jurors condemn Andriano, she would become only the 2nd woman on
Arizona's death row. The other is Debra Milke of Phoenix, who was
sentenced to death in 1991 for having her 4-year-old son murdered.
Prosecutors say Andriano was eager to quicken her husband's death so she
could sue doctors who failed to diagnose his cancer early.
Andriano testified on her own behalf for nine days, contending that her
husband had a violent temper and willingly took poison to end his
