Cambodia asks Thailand to reconsider death sentence for 2 women
Cambodia on Thursday asked Thailand to reconsider a death sentence handed
down to 2 Cambodian women for drug smuggling.
Logn Visalo, secretary of state for foreign affairs, told reporters that
his government hopes Thailand will either grant them an amnesty on the
occasion of the Thai king's birthday or reduce their sentences to life
imprisonment "based on the good relationship between the 2 countries."

Tibetan monk facing death penalty
A Tibetan monk convicted of a spate of bomb blasts could face the death
penalty within weeks when a 2-year stay of execution expires, a report
Tensin Deleg Rinpoche, 52, was sentenced to death in December 2002 along
with Lobsang Dhondup, a 28-year-old activist, for an April 2002 bomb
attack in Sichuan's capital Chengdu, in which one person was killed and
another injured, according to an agency report.
